What are the differences between the SCPH-50007 series of PlayStation®2 consoles and those of older series?

  1. Enhanced DVD playback functions, allowing the playing of discs complying with DVD-R/-RW (Video mode), DVD-RW (VR mode) and DVD+R/+RW.
  2. Compatible with Progressive Output. If the output display supports this feature, the use of the component cable SCPH-10100G will allow you to enjoy higher quality digital audiovisual entertainment.
  3. Comes with in-built infrared receiver for the DVD remote controller, so a controller port need not be taken up to ensure the operation of the remote controller.
  4. Allows the use of the new series of DVD remote controller SCPH-10420G to switch on/standby/reset the PS2 and open/close its disk tray.
  5. Quiet design. The new sound proofing can cut the noise from the heat-dissipating fan by up to 30% (based on calculations done by SCEI).
