How do I pair a Bluetooth device, such as a Bluetooth headset, to the PLAYSTATION 3 system?

Pairing Bluetooth Headsets
1.        Navigate to the Settings icon in the PS3 Home Menu on the PLAYSTATION 3 system main menu and scroll down to [Accessory Settings].
2.        Select [Register Bluetooth Device] to register (or pair) a Bluetooth-compatible headset with the PS3 system.
3.        Highlight [Register Headset] and press the X button.
4.        You’ll now see the adjacent message on the screen. This means that the PLAYSTATION 3 system will scan for any Bluetooth device that is within range. Once you’ve prepared your Bluetooth headset to pair, press the X button to [Start Scanning].
5.        If the scan is successful, then the PLAYSTATION 3 system will list the Bluetooth devices that are ready to be registered (paired) and are within range. Press the X button to continue.
6.        At this point you may need to enter your Bluetooth device’s pass key in order to complete the pairing process. The pass key is a security measure that helps to ensure a secure connection between the Bluetooth device and the PLAYSTATION 3 system.
If you don't know the correct pass key, consult the instructions for your Bluetooth device. Press the X button to begin entering the [Pass Key].
7.        Use the on-screen keyboard to enter your Bluetooth device’s pass key. Move the cursor onto the green Enter button and press the X button.
8.        You should now see your correct pass key in the centre of the screen. Use the directional buttons to highlight [OK], and press the X button.
9.        Once the pairing is complete, you’ll see this confirmation page.
This means your Bluetooth device shares a secure, Wireless connection with the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Press the X button to continue.
Setting your newly paired device as Input/Output device
Now that your device is being recognised by the PLAYSTATION 3 system, you must set it as the default Input/Output device.
1.        Navigate to the Settings icon in the PS3 Home Menu and scroll down to [Accessory Settings].  Highlight [Audio Device Settings] and press the X button.
2.        Highlight [Input Device] and press the X button.  Scroll up and down until you find your desired device and press the X button.
3.        Highlight [OK] and press the X button.
Note: Bluetooth-compatible headsets will not work with PlayStation 2 format software titles. They will only work with compatible PLAYSTATION 3 software titles and with the online Chat feature that is available to PLAYSTATION Network users.

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) does not have a list of recommended compatible Bluetooth devices and cannot guarantee every Bluetooth device will register (or pair) with the PLAYSTATION 3 system. We recommend you contact the manufacturer of your Bluetooth device to determine if it is compatible with the PLAYSTATION 3 system.
