The PSP 1000 series does not have the ability to connect to an external display.
However, the PSP 2000 series includes the unique feature of the video out connector which allows users to connect and play the PSP system on a display or television with AV inputs. Below are the AV cables that will work with the PSP 2000 series.

AV Cables

The AV Cables connect to the Video Out connector on the bottom of the PSP system and allow you to output video and audio signal to a television display. The AV Cables support photos, videos (including UMD movies), and music. However, games are not supported.

Component AV Cables
|
The Component AV Cables connect to the Video Out connector on the bottom of the PSP system and allow you to output video and audio signal to a television display. The Component AV Cables support photos, videos (including UMD movies), music, and games. Please note for games to output onto an external display, the display must support progressive scan.

Note: These cables are only for use with the PSP 2000 series and will not work with the PSP 1000 series.
Installation to a Display-
Connect the cables to the Video Out connector on the bottom side of the PSP system.

Connect the other ends of the cable to the back of the display, making sure to select the appropriate video input ports for that particular display.

Turn on the display and access the appropriate video inputs (i.e., Video 1, 2, 3, etc. or Line/Input 1, 2, 3, etc.).

Turn the PSP system on and press and hold the display button on the front of the system for at least five seconds. If successful, this will bring up an image on the display and the LCD screen on the PSP will disappear.
Note:

To clear the video output, press the display button again.

Video from games can be output only when the display in use and the cable connecting to it support progressive scan screen display (Component AV Cable).

Games can not be output to a display using Composite AV Cables. If gameplay is attempted when using Composite AV Cables, the following message appears: "To display this screen on a connected device, you must be connected using a component AV cable or a D-terminal AV cable and you must output the video content in progressive format."
