If the displayed picture is cutoff on the sides when playing a disc on the PlayStation®3, please try the following troubleshooting steps as they may resolve the problem.
Please note that some displays may overscan an image. Overscan is extra image area around the four edges of a video image that is not normally seen by a viewer. This is normal for some displays and cannot be changed.
If the picture is cutoff
Check that the PlayStation®3 system's video output settings are correct.
Check that settings of the TV or display are correct (i.e., the correct video input in selected, etc.). For details, refer to the instructions supplied with your TV or display.
You may need to change the screen size (aspect ratio) that is output from the movie. With some video content, the screen size cannot be changed.
