Main features in system software update version 4.00

■ PlayStation®Vita system compatibility
You can now copy content such as music, video and image data, and games and other applications, from the PS3™ system to the PS Vita system and vice versa. You can also back up the data saved in the PS Vita system to the PS3™ system hard disk. You can also update the system software for your PS Vita system using the network features of the PS3™ system.

To use these features, connect the PS3™ system and the PS Vita system with a USB cable. Operations are done from the PS Vita system.

Setting
  • Upscaler output and Cinema conversion are now supported for Blu-ray Disc™ (BDMV) content.
    "Blu-ray Disc™"and "Blu-ray™" are trademarks of the Blu-ray Disc Association.
  • You can now select the items you want to update under   (System Settings) > [Automatic Update].
    This feature is exclusively for use by PlayStation®Plus members.
  • [English (United Kingdom)] and [Portuguese (Brazil)] have been added as options under  (Settings) >   (System Settings) > [System Language].

  • @  (Privacy Settings) has been added as a feature under   (Account Management).

  • For some video streaming services, the icon for the service might appear under the (TV/Video Services) category instead of the (Video) category.
  • The (TV/Video Services) category is not displayed in the XMB™ menu when none of the services in this category are used.
  • For information about displayed services to be updated, your PS3™ system must be connected to the Internet.

PlayStation®Network
  • A feature has been added for sharing information about products in PlayStation®Store with your Friends. By selecting [Recommend] on the detail page for a product, you can send a message introducing the product to your Friends.

Video
  • 3D playback* of Blu-ray Java™ (“BD-J”) content is now supported. You can now enjoy BD-J content recorded on Blu-ray 3D™ discs.
  • DTS-HD audio output is now supported while playing Blu-ray 3D™ content*.

Settings
  • Trophy information can now be synchronized with the server automatically on a regular basis. This feature is exclusively for use by PlayStation®Plus members.

An unauthorized access to PlayStation®Network has been confirmed and, as a security measure, a process that requires all PlayStation®Network account holders to change passwords has been added.

After you update to version 3.61, you will be required to change your account password the first time you sign in to PlayStation®Network. Please change the passwords for all of your PlayStation®Network accounts. > See details

    • When you change your password, an e-mail message may be sent to the e-mail address registered with PlayStation®Network (your sign-in ID). If you cannot receive messages at your registered e-mail address, you will not be able to change your password.
    • If you cannot receive messages at the e-mail address you have registered as your sign-in ID, prepare an e-mail address that you can use to receive messages and contact before you attempt to change your password.

    • Depending on your country/region of residence and the network environment you are using, you may not be able to change your PlayStation®Network account password or make use of PlayStation®Network services for some time after updating your PS3™ system software.
    • The ability to change PlayStation®Network account passwords and use PlayStation®Network services* will be made available in all regions within a few days.
      *This does not include the use of PlayStation®Store.
