  • An update to the system software for PlayStation®Vita systems and PlayStation®TV systems was released on Nov 1st, 2016. You can use this to update your system software to version 3.63.

    Always update your system to the latest version of the system software. By updating, you can enjoy additional features, improved usability, and enhanced security.

    The PlayStation®TV system is sold as PlayStation®Vita TV system in some countries and regions. Systems with either name are referred to as “PlayStation®TV” or "PS TV" on this page.

    • This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.

     

    Notices

    • Do not download or install the update using data other than the official update file provided online or on a PS Vita card by Sony Computer Entertainment. Do not download or install updates by methods other than those described in the system documentation or on this website. If you download or install update data from a different source, by a different method, or on a PS Vita system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PS Vita system might not operate properly and might not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions can void the PS Vita system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment.
    • Do not turn off the power or remove the memory card for your PS Vita system during the update process. Interrupting the update can cause a system malfunction.
    • It might not be possible to start the update if the battery charge level is low.
    • You might not be able to use some applications or content without first updating the system software.

     

    System Software

    The PS Vita system and PS TV system software updates installed on your system are subject to a limited license from Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. Visit http://doc.dl.playstation.net/doc/psvita-eula/ for details.

     

     

    Update Methods

    You can update the PS Vita system and PS TV system software by any of the methods described below.

    PS Vita system

    • Update using Wi-Fi
    • Update by connecting to a PS3™ system
    • Update by connecting to a PC
    • Update using a PS Vita card

    PS TV system

    • Update by connecting to the Internet
    • Update using a PS Vita card

    If you cannot update using any of these methods, click here.

    After the update is completed, go to the home screen and select ​ (Settings) > [Start] > [System] > [System Information]. If the version number of the system update file you used for updating the system is displayed in the [System Software] field, this means that the update was completed successfully.

     

     

    Update using Wi-Fi

    Use the Wi-Fi feature of your PS Vita system to update the system via the Internet.

    The following things are needed to perform the update:

    • PS Vita system
    • Internet connection (wireless)
      You must configure your PS Vita system's network settings. For details, refer to your PS Vita system's user's guide.

    To perform an update using Wi-Fi, select  (Settings) > [Start] > [System Update] > [Update Using Wi-Fi] in a location that has an access point you can use. Your PS Vita system automatically checks over the Internet whether you have the latest version of the system software. If there is an update file for a later version, it is downloaded to the system. Follow the screens to complete the update.

    • You cannot perform an update using data transfer over a mobile network (3G).

     

     

    Update by connecting to a PS3™ system

    Use the network feature of a PS3™ system to update the system via the Internet.

    The following things are needed to perform the update:

    • PS Vita system
    • PlayStation®3
      - The system software must be version 4.00 or later.
      - Prepare a connection to the Internet.
      ​
    You must configure the PS3™ system's network settings. For details, refer to the PS3™ system's user's guide .
    1. Connect your PS Vita system to the PS3™ system using a USB cable.
    2. All open applications must be closed, and  (User) must be selected.
    3. On your PS Vita system, select  (Settings) > [Start] > [System Update] > [Update by Connecting to a PS3™ System].
      Your PS Vita system automatically checks over the Internet whether you have the latest version of the system software. If there is an update file for a later version, it is downloaded to the system. Follow the screens to complete the update.

     

     

    Update by connecting to a PC

    Use the computer's network feature (Windows® / Mac) to update the system via the Internet.

    Click to start the download.

     

    The following things are needed to perform the update:

    • PS Vita system
    • Computer (Windows® / Mac)
      - Connect to the Internet.
      - Download and install Content Manager Assistant for PlayStation® on the computer.

    You can download it from the following website:

    1. Check that Content Manager Assistant is running on the computer.

     

    Windows®:

    Look for the Content Manager Assistant icon in the notification area of the taskbar:

              

     

    Mac:

    Look for the Content Manager Assistant icon in the menu bar:

     

    1. Connect your PS Vita system and the computer using a USB cable.
    1. On the PS Vita system, select  (Settings) > [Start] > [System Update] > [Update by Connecting to a PC].
      ‎Your PS Vita system automatically checks over the Internet whether you have the latest version of the system software. If there is an update file for a later version, it is downloaded to the system. Follow the screens to complete the update.

     

     

    Update using a PS Vita card

    Use an update file contained on a PS Vita card to update the system.

    The following things are needed to perform the update:

    • PS Vita system / PS TV system
    • A PS Vita card that contains an update file

    When you start a game that contains an update file for a later version, a screen will be displayed to guide you through the update process. Follow the screens to perform the update.

     

     

    Update by connecting to the Internet

    Use the network feature of a PS TV system to update the system via the Internet.

    The following things are needed to perform the update:

    • PS TV system
    • Internet connection (wired or wireless)
      You must configure your PS TV system's network settings. For details, refer to your PS TV system's user's guide.

    When you select ​ (Settings) > [Start] > [System Update], the PS TV system automatically checks over the Internet whether you have the latest version of the system software. If there is an update file for a later version, it is downloaded to the system. Follow the screens to complete the update.

     

     

    Update using a USB flash drive

    Download the update file to your computer, and then save it on the USB flash drive. Copy the saved file to your PS TV system to update the system.

     

    The following things are needed to perform the update:

    • PS TV system
    • Computer (Windows® / Mac)
      You must connect to the Internet.
    • USB flash drive
      There must be 150 MB of free space.

     

    1. On the USB flash drive, create folders for saving the update file.
      Using a computer, create a folder named "PSVITA" on the USB flash drive. Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".
    2. Download the update file, and save it in the "UPDATE" folder you created in step 1.
      Save the file with the file name "PSVUPDAT.PUP".


    Download

    Click to start the download.

    1. Turn off the power of your PS TV system completely.
    2. Press and hold the Power button on your PS TV system for at least 7 seconds to turn on the power.
      The system starts in safe mode.
    3. Connect a controller using a USB cable, and then press then PS button.
    4. Select [Update System Software] > [Update from USB Storage Device].
    5. Connect the USB flash drive that the update file is saved on to your PS TV system.
      Follow the screens to complete the update.

     

    • If your PS TV system does not recognize the update file, check that the folder names and file name are correct. Enter the folder names and file name in single-byte characters using uppercase letters.

     

     

     

     

    An update to the PlayStation®Vita system/PlayStation®Vita TV software was released on Aug 7th, 2014. You can use this to update your system software to version 3.18. (The PlayStation®Vita and PlayStation®Vita TV systems are referred to as a "PS Vita system" below.)

    A PS Vita system software update is required to use PSNSM features and some features on the system. Also, downloading and installing the PS Vita system software update will update your PS Vita system's operating system to include the latest security patches, as well as new and revised applications, features, and settings. It is recommended that you always maintain your system to use the latest version of the system software.
